Positive Price Appreciation Forecast
John Burns Real Estate Consulting
presented very optimistic numbers for their 2021 US Housing Analysis and Forecast. Results of the research show that home prices are expected to appreciate 13.8%, giving home buyers equity to move and giving sellers a better return on their home sale. The job growth seen in the last few months is a sign of a strong economy, inspiring buyers’ confidence to enter the market.
In the last month, U.S. home prices experienced their biggest annual increase in more than two decades; a shortage of properties and low borrowing rates fueled demand. According to the National Association of Realtors, the median existing-home sales price in May topped $350,000 for the first time. This figure was nearly 24% higher than a year ago (in the midst of massive lockdowns!), the biggest year-over-year price increase NAR has recorded in data going back to 1999.
For those buyers who were discouraged from buying due to the high competition in the first months of 2021, now is a better time to start searching for your dream home! We are seeing an increase in home inventory helping the market stabilize because sellers are encouraged by the numbers. If you are thinking of buying or selling, give us a call for a free consultation!
